I don’t know what I did to deserve it, but just today I was kindly informed that a review of Fagin’s Boy was posted at A Kiss at Midnight’s blog. The review is very positive and glowing, and Kelsey McNight gave it 5 out of 6 glass slippers, a reference to the Cinderella story that I find charming and endearing. The review was also posted at the Amazon page for Fagin’s Boy, which I thought was very lovely, and which I read at least five times in a row.
Yes, I know I should be humble and dignified, but right now I am puffed up with pride.
What I loved best, I think, about the review, was that in the middle of the page, Kelsey posted a small b/w gif of a man saying, “I can’t stop thinking about you and I don’t know what to do.” Which exactly reflects poor Oliver’s state during pretty much most of the book, where Jack is flirting with Oliver, and smiling at Oliver, and getting Oliver to think daring thoughts….and Oliver is just flummoxed by the whole thing. Bamboozled! Beguiled. And, in the end, of course, he succumbs to Jack’s charms. (And, frankly, who could blame Oliver.)
Seriously, I do not know what I did to deserve this….such a review, such a lovely review.
